Awards

Winners of annual awards are typically announced shortly after the end of the playoffs. The game automatically determines award winners for the following awards:

Great Glove Awards - Awarded to the top defensive players at each defensive position
Cy Young Award - Awarded to the best pitcher
Platinum Stick Awards - Awarded to the best hitter at each position
Rookie of the Year Award - Awarded to the best rookie
MVP Award - Award to the best player in the league
Reliever of the year Award - Given to the best reliever of the league
Manager of the year award - Given to the best manager of the league.

When awards are announced, league news articles will be generated with the list of winners. Award winners will also have this information noted in the History Tab >> Accomplishments Tab of their Player Profile.

Custom Awards

You can also create one custom award as well. The custom award can be named during game creation on the Options tab. After game creation, it can be named by navigating to Game >> Game Settings >> League Settings >> Options tab..

Selecting Award Winners Manually

As mentioned above, OOTP selects the award winners automatically. However, if you are the commissioner of your league, or if you are playing in a solo league, you can also select the award-winners manually if you prefer to have more control. To manually select award winners, use the Manual Award Voting menu option. This option appears in the League menu as soon as the playoffs end. Selecting this menu option will bring you to the Award Voting page.

Voting for players here is easy. Use the top half of the screen to look up players and their statistics, then drag the players to the relevant boxes on the bottom of the page. You can use the Qualify drop-down in the top right to filter out players who have not played enough to qualify. Pitchers qualify if they have at least 1 inning pitched per team game played in the first half. Hitters qualify if they have at least 3.1 plate appearances per team game played in the first half. You can also use the Ask Computer button to let the AI choose the award winners.

If you choose to vote manually, then you must complete all awards. Not all of your voting has to happen on one day. You could vote in a handful of obvious choices right away, then vote a few more each week. Just, make sure you click the Finish button before the date the awards are announced! If you don't complete your voting manually before then, the computer will select the winners! You can check the announcement dates in the League Events page.
