Scheduling All-Star Game and All-Star game Settings

The All-Star game and its parameters can be set under Game >> Game Settings >> League Settings >> Options Tab on the right hand side of the page under All-Star Game Settings section.

  • Hold All-Star Game - Default is checked. This will disable the All-Star game if unchecked.
  • Automatically Schedule All-Star Game - This option will allow the game to schedule the ASG for you. Unchecking this will allow you to pick a date for the ASG.
  • All-Star Game Location - This drop down menu will allow you to have the game auto-select where the ASG will be played or you can choose any of the Major League Baseball locations.
  • All-Star Game decides home field for final playoff-round - Default is unchecked. Who will have play off advantage of homefield during the World Series?
  • Allow human managers to vote for All-Star game - Default is checked. Do you want to vote for the ASG? If you are running an online league do you want GM's to be allowed to vote for the ASG?
  • Influence of Popularity in All-Star Vote - This drop down menu will allow you to change the influence of player popularity in voting. Do you want players that are having a good season to have more influence or do you want popularity of a player, even if having a bad year, influence who the voters vote for.
  • All-Star Game Roster Size - Drop down menu will allow you to raise or lower the ASG roster size from 26 to 50.
  • Force all teams to be represented at the All-Star Game - Default of this setting is different for different games. Default for Standard game is on. Default for Historical and Custom games is off. If this option is activated all teams will be represented at the ASG.
  • Force use of DH in All-Star Game - This is once again dependent on what type of game you are playing. In Historic games, when DH was not used yet, this option will be disabled. In a new Standard game, this option will be enabled. Do you want the DH rule to be active in your ASG?
  • Hold All-Star Prospects Game - Do you want to enable a prospects game? If this option is disabled the options below will also be disabled.
  • All-Star Prospects Game Date - Here you can choose to pick from 7 days before the ASG to the ASG date, or up to 6 days after the ASG.
  • All-Star Prospect game Format - You can chose between The United States vs The World or By Sub-League (AL vs NL)
  • Hold All-Star HR Challenge - If this is checked it is enabled. Unchecked there will not be a HR Challenge.
  • Run Full HR Challenge Sim - If enabled, HR Challenge will be simmed and able to replay. If not, no movements will be sabed and no replay of the challenge will be available.
Announcing All-Stars

When the All-Stars are announced, a league news article will be posted with the rosters for each team. All-Star game appearances are recorded in individual player histories.

Playing the All-Star Game

You can actually play the game out yourself if you so desire, regardless of whether you currently manage a team and how that team is performing. Just go to the Scores & Schedule screen from the League menu on the day of the All-Star Game, and you will have the option to manage the game.

Selecting All-Stars Manually

As mentioned above, OOTP selects the All-Star participants automatically. However, if you are the commissioner of your league, or if you are playing in a solo league, you can also select the All-Stars manually if you prefer to have more control. To manually select All-Stars, use the Manual All-Star Voting menu option. This option appears in the League menu 30 days before the All-Star game.

Selecting this menu option will bring you to the All-Star Voting page.

Voting for players here is easy. Use the top half of thescreento look up players and their statistics, then drag the players to the boxes on the bottom of the page. You can use the Qualify drop-down in the top right to filter out players who have not played enough to qualify. Pitchers qualify if they have at least 1 inning pitched per team game played in the first half. Hitters qualify if they have at least 3.1 plate appearances per team game played in the first half. You can also use the Ask Computer button to let the AI choose the All-Stars.

If you choose to vote manually, then you must complete both All-Star teams. You cannot create a partial All-Star roster. Not all of your voting has to happen on one day. You could vote in a handful of obvious choices 30 days prior to the All-Star game, then vote a few more each week. Just, make sure you complete the rosters before the All-Star teams are announced 3 days before the All-Star Game. If you don't complete your voting manually before then, the computer will select the teams!
