This section of the online manual is all about creating your baseball universe. Use the links below to jump to the type of game that interests you most. However, before you start building, it may be helpful to understand a bit more about OOTP game universe terminology and the different types of OOTP leagues.

Creating OOTP Games
  • Creating a Standard Game - Read this section if you are most interested in creating a league based on this season's Major League rosters.
  • Creating a Custom Game using our League Creation Wizard - Read this section if you would like to create a custom league, but you'd like to use an easy wizard to help set things up.
  • Creating a Historical Game using one of our four Historical Creation Wizards, Default, Replay, Career, and Random Debut.
  • Creating a Custom Game - how to use the Custom Game creation wizard.
  • Advanced Mode - Read this section if you would like to create a custom league (including historical leagues), but you're comfortable doing so without the help of our wizard.
  • Importing OOTP 24 Games - Read this section if you are planning on importing data from a prior version of OOTP.
  • Using a Quick-Start Game - Read this section if you would like to skip some of the complexities of creating your own league and use one of our pre-defined league setups.

Note: Any of the types of games above can become an online league. See OOTP Online Leagues for more information on online leagues.

Challenge Mode
  • All games will give you the option to start in Challenge Mode, allowing you to play in a somewhat less-forgiving environment. See the Challenge Mode description for more details.
Drive for the Pennant
  • This mode is meant to get you in and playing through the current MLB season. It gives you a focused view to manage your team - it delegates depth charts, bullpen depth, minor league management, etc... to your assistant GM, to keep you focused on the key parts.
  • For new players, it gives a quick and easy way to get into the game and to play through. For veteran players, it's a way to play through the current MLB season in a quick way, to experience all the thrills of the season without some of the complexities of the game.
  • See the Drive for the Pennant description for more details.
